Maybe solder can be a more permanent repair to the tube

I came home at 4 AM to find my car battery completely dead. I noticed that the glove box in my old car had opened by itself, and the light inside drained the battery. I started carrying the JFEGWO jump starter over a year ago when I had battery issues. Today was the first time I actually used the JFEGWO, and I had to use the manual override boost to start the car. :) It worked perfectly.

Not what it’s for. It’s for electrical connections that get exposed to water. All it does is provide a barrier to help keep water out.

Great minds think alike! I bought the digital keypad version directly from Vevor six months ago. I cleaned an engine case and a pair of heads with outstanding results. And engine tin as well. I am not a chemist but I can pretend to be one in your comments section. After studying the active ingredients in professional ultrasonic engine parts cleaners, I created my own concoction of Harbor Freight degreaser and washing soda. Highly effective. You are right though - too many cycles and the heads stained. But it did take carbon off which surprised me. Keep the videos coming. Don’t forget that I am eagerly awaiting that 2110 or at least a 82mm build!

I worked as a glass guy for a body shop like earl sheib. There was a Malibu there. I took the back glass out. And there wasn’t anything there but rust. You could see the ground. I asked how are you going to fix that? Where would you start? They used chicken wire, newspaper and bondo to shape a new pinch weld and structure. I glued a new glass in, and had to glue the moldings on. I’m sure the glass was part of the structure when the glue sat up. At this shop… the painter, painted 20 cars in a day.

Hey Mike ! on a VW you should use Ubber Cleanlink

In the 1970s or early 80s I had a VW Type 3 and got an Earl Shieb paint job. It actually came out decent, but I removed all the chrome and bumpers and sanded and spot primed it myself first. I can attest that the paint they put on was thin though.

I managed the Van Nuys shop in 1987. The cost for a gallon of paint was $2.95. When I sold a little bottle of touch up paint it paid for the cost of painting the whole car. Scheib owned their own paint manufacturing plant. The paint was an Alkyd enamel, the same type of paint used on model T's. The only sandpaper grit they had was 220, and all sanding was with a DA. The sanding was only a scuff. We were allotted 1 gallon per car. The worst part was the Scheib clear. It had a heavy yellow tint. So if a customer picked a blue to paint the car, and he bought the good paint job. he got a green car. I tried not to sell the job with the clear coat, because I knew I would have trouble when delivering the car. The Scheib's loved me because I brought in more cash than the previous managers had. They didn't like that I didn't sell the most expensive jobs. I made the $ selling the body work instead. I don't know when ownership changed, but when I worked there AJ Scheib hired me, You would find Earl at the Bevery Hills shop every morning. My shop had a great body man. He came to California at 18 years old having grown up in PA, his dad owned a body shop, and like you, nobody would hire him at 18.

No battery perhaps too The lights will get powered from the generator directly I mean you could add a small battery no big deal if you wanted it you could put a CD player in this thing

My dad had a '78 Nova he had bodywork and paint done by Scheib in '87. The bottoms of the doors were rusted on it. We got the car back and it looked great. After a month, he came and picked me up at work and I got in and slammed the passenger door and heard a thunk. I opened the door and a huge long chunk of bondo, wadded newspaper and plastic mesh onion bags fell out! We stood there in disbelief and my dad went nuts. He picked up this mess and drove back to the shop. Walked in with this mass of bondo, newspaper and onion mesh bags and hurled it at one of the workers. Lots of foul language and we were asked to leave and threatened to call the police. I went with and was embarassed but it was hilarious at the same time. Wished we had smart phones back then to record this Lol. I think the total bill back then for the paint and bodywork was $450 Lol.

Yea I’m not so sure you’re gonna get 10.5:1 compression with a 283 without decking the heads or the block especially with camel hump or power pack heads. The camel humps had 64cc chambers and SOME power packs had 58cc but most were 60cc. The best heads are the 305 HO because the 416 casting had 58cc chambers and the 601 casting has 53cc chambers. With a flat top piston (5cc valve reliefs), stock deck height, a .015” x 4.100” head gasket, .025 deck clearance, and 53cc chambers, you only get around 9.77:1. The best way to bump the compression is to bore it more, deck the block or heads, get small dome pistons, or lower the compression and run some nitrous or boost. Not trynna be rude or shoot down your video, but 10.5:1 on a 283 is ALOT harder than that compression ratio on a 350 or a 454.

im 80 years old and remember Scheib, werent considered the best paint company for sure,but cheap. main complaint was poor prep/masking.

It only welds 1/8 but the flux 125 welds 3/16. Wow flux is half the price.
